GD101 Graphic Design Fundamentals – Photography Project

In this project we will explore the creation and implementation of photographic imagery. We will be creating four sets of photographs exploring  four specific themes:

  • Typography and Environment
  • Textures and Surfaces
  • Sequence and Narrative
  • Light and Dark
  1. The number of photographs in each set is up to you, with a minimum of two per set.
  2. One of the sets must be printed out and mounted on foam core.
  3. One of the sets must be composited into a single image in Photoshop.

Photography has nearly come to define what modern graphic design looks like (that and uncluttered typography!). Understanding it’s properties and possibilities is essential for the practicing graphic designer.

Below is some photographic inspiration for each of the categories.
