GD 216: Adapted Fairy Tale

Carter Goodrich Carter Goodrich

Illustrate the cover of a new children’s book. The story to be illustrated is a retelling of a classic fairy tale, adapted to our contemporary place, time and sensibility. A good example of an adapted fairy tale is The Paper Bag Princess by Robert Munch.

Specs: The illustration should be 8″ x 10″ using mixed media. Due Week Five, February 1st.

The list of possible fairy tales is long, including –

  • Goldilocks and the Three Bears
  • Little Red Riding Hood
  • Repunzel
  • The Ugly Duckling
  • Hansel and Gretal
  • The Pied Piper of Hamlin
